Illustration 101: Color and Line
Become a better draftsperson while exploring narrative and the fantastic!
- Tuesdays, Feb 4, 11, 18, 25, 6-9pm (4 weeks)
Illustration 101 is a 4 week traditional media workshop incorporating life and figure drawing with imagination and media techniques. You will learn to draw from life and then express a narrative building on your creativity. The class will explore different mediums including graphite, charcoal, ink and color pencil.
Instructor: Steve Mardo
Steve Mardo is a freelance illustrator from Rhode Island who has studied
at the School of Visual Arts in New York and received his BFA in illustration from MassArt in Boston. Clients include American Cancer Society, Northeastern Magazine, Dig Boston, The Pet Gazette, The Motif Magazine, Light Publications, Locust Moon Comics, Hope Media, Middle Center Productions, Improper Bostonian, Rhode Island Monthly. His art has also been showcased at Gallery X, AS220, 13 Forest Gallery, AnnMarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center and Gallery 1988. Mardo independently prints his own comic Big Jackson through his comic book company Angry Baby Comics. www.stevemardo.com
Location and Parking: The AS220 Media Arts Lab at the Mercantile is located at 131 Washington Street Providence, Rhode Island on the 2nd floor (# 202). On-street parking is free after 6pm and we are located next to a parking garage with Entry on Washington Street.
Important Class Policies: Please be respectful of the short time you and the other Participants Have to learn and arrive on time. If you are more than half an hour late, we will not be Able to teach you what you signed up for. Plan ahead, always it Takes Time to find on-street parking. To cancel your reservation, you must email firstname.lastname@example.org at least two weeks in advance, or risk losing your payment.
CANCELLATION OF CLASSES: If the minimum number is not met enrollment in class, the teacher may opt to cancel class. If this is the case, we will give a full refund of payment and first class choice to enroll in future classes. We will attempt to give as much notice as possible.
