Did you know you can silkscreen on just about any flat surface? Learn to screen print on alternative surfaces such as metal, wood and glass! - This workshop is great for both, beginners as well as proficient screen printers who would like to learn new techniques!

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Screen printing is one of the most popular techniques for printing on paper and fabric like T-shirts or scarves. It is also an incredible way to print your designs on other materials like metal, glass, acrylic, and wood. In this workshop, you will learn to screen print on diverse surfaces either for the creation of one-of-a-kind art pieces as
gifts or mementos or as print production for the market.

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS:

  • Your smartphone
  • A ready-to-screen print image of your design or photograph. We will do this together in the first session.
  • Jacquard brand screen printing inks (Jacquard brand only). Any color from their list. 
  • Masking tape
  • Copper 18 gauge etching plate (not bigger than 18” x 24”)
  • Clear acrylic
  • Glass
  • Wood, MDF, or Plywood (not bigger than 18” x 24”)

INSTRUCTOR BIO: 

Minoo Emami is an Iranian multi-disciplinary artist with over 30 years dedicated to art practice, teaching, and exhibition. A self-thought painter when she moved to the U.S. She earned a BFA from Tufts University in May 2019. Minoo received her MFA degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in May 2021. Her work has been written about and exhibited in solo and group shows nationally and internationally. Her work has been collected privately and within the permanent collection of the Newport Art Museum, Newport, Rhode Island, USA and at Lettre International in Berlin, Germany.

Location: The AS220 Industries is located at the Mercantile at 131 Washington Street Providence, Rhode Island on the 1st floor. The entrance is located at the back of the building on Lucie Way; use the entrance under the AS220 Printshop sign, head upstairs and follow the signs. Ring the bell if the doors aren't open (though they should be). 

Parking: There is a 2-hour metered on-street parking available, and parking is free on Sundays. We are also located near a parking garage with entry on Washington Street, look for the big blue parking sign.

Important Workshop Policies. Please be as respectful of the short time you and the other participants have to learn and be as on time as possible. If you arrive more than half an hour late, we will not be able to teach you. Please plan ahead, it always takes time to find on-street parking. 

Refund Policy: To cancel your reservation must email industries@as220.org at least two weeks in advance, or risk losing your payment.

Cancellation of workshops. If the minimum number is not met in workshop enrollment, the teacher may opt to cancel the workshop. If this is the case, we will give a full refund of workshop payment and first choice to enroll in future workshops. We will attempt to give as much notice as possible, thank you for your understanding.
