All classes take place at 95 Empire Street, 3rd Floor Dance Studio.

Intermediate Level Ballet barre and center, taught from a contemporary standpoint, with attention to anatomical safety and awareness, and a nod to somatic practice. Nicole excels at adapting combinations from the intermediate level to either simpler or more advanced variations, based on students' needs and experience. Emphasis will be on continued development of dynamic alignment, carriage of the arms, articulation of the feet and hips, increasing one's repertoire of steps in various combinations, and knowledge of the ballet vocabulary. Nicole is a warm, inviting teacher with a healthy sense of humor, making the studio environment safe and welcoming for all.  NOTE: In this class we will explore and expand on beginning foundations, however, this class will not introduce those movements; previous experience is preferred.

Nicole C. Laliberté, artistic director of Freedom Dances, performed with Sidelong Dance Co., Boston Dance Co., EBA Dance Theatre, and Honolulu Dance Theatre, among others.  Ms. Laliberté has danced, taught, and choreographed in Rhode Island, Boston, New York, Hawaii, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and St. Petersburg, Russia.  She holds her MFA in Choreography from UNCG and a BFA in Dance from The Boston Conservatory.  She designed and implemented the first Associate of Arts in Dance program in Georgia.  Currently, she is on faculty at AS220 in Providence, as well as studios in RI and CT.  Nicole is also a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner offering group Awareness Through Movement® Lessons and private Functional Integration Lessons®.  

Of note, she has taught at UNCG, James Madison University, Meredith College, Darton College, and Greensboro Ballet.  “I am passionate about the art of teaching dance.  I have found through my own journey of crafting my technique that it is of vital importance to work with each student’s instrument differently in order to guide them toward becoming the best dancer they can be.  Some students learn by doing, others by watching, hearing the music, verbal prompts, counting, or perhaps by metaphor or imagery.  I enjoy finding what works best for each individual dancer.”

As an independent artist, student, teacher, and guest artist, Ms. Laliberté has staged choreography at Providence College, The Boston Conservatory, James Madison University, Darton College, Rhode Island College, American College Dance Festivals in Vermont and North Carolina, Boston Regional Youth America Grand Prix, countless studios nationwide, and in the repertories of Maude Baum and Company, Albany, NY, and Sidelong Dance Company, Winston-Salem, NC.  Nicole is thrilled and honored to receive a 2021-22 RISCA Individual Project Grant in Choreography in support of her multimedia dance biography, "La Survivance – Chère Mémère", coming in September 2022.
